A hidden gem in Amsterdam-Oost is the Flevopark. I ride my bike through this park often, it has everything, a snack bar and jenever distillery and a beautiful veranda to sit on. It is wonderful for a warm weather picnic or barbecue with friends. This summer they had some festivals and I always enjoy going there for a bike ride. There is a bike path that connects to Diemen and itâs on the waterâs edge and really so relaxing to ride down. You can see all the big boats coming and going, as well as old trees and wildlife all along the path. There are also paths that cut through a sheep farm, that lead to this enormous pond that makes you feel like you really are in the middle of nature. You can see Amsterdam in the distance, but it is absolutely silent, with just the sounds of water and animals.
